Five couples met in 1977 to start a Sunday night Bible study and to determine interest in establishing a non-denominational Bible church in Corsicana.  It was quickly decided to there was enough interest to go forward.

They met with Bob Salstrom, Director of Church Relations at Dallas Theological Seminary, for guidance. Jeff Townsend led the initial Bible study and was called as the first pastor-teacher. The first Sunday morning meeting was January 1, 1978. The Seventh Day Adventist church graciously allowed this new group of believers to use their facilities. The church grew quickly and was able to start planning for their own facility.

On July 7,1979, Dr. Charles Ryrie led the dedication for our new building. Our activity room and kitchen were added several years later. There has always been a close relationship with Dallas Theological Seminary. Professors have filled the pulpit and brought Bible conferences for our group. All seven of our pastor-teachers have been Dallas graduates.

Since our beginning we have emphasized teaching the Scriptures.  It has been the basis for our doctrine and practice. We have always sought to live out the “one-another's “ found throughout the New Testament.  There have been small group home meeting from the beginning.  We have utilized various programs such as Navigator 2:7 discipleship training, Exchanged Life, and others that taught us how to love and encourage one another.   For the past 5 years we have provided a Celebrate Recovery program for our community.  It is a safe place for anyone to deal with hurts, hang-ups, and habits while learning to live out their new life in Christ.

There have been ups and downs during the last 40 years, but we have never strayed from our initial vision to teach God’s Word and to love the people of Corsicana.
